Wear Characteristics and Maintenance Tips: Sickle Sections |
Performance Tips· Check the wear on the knifeback · Check to make sure that the proper guard is installed in the proper location · Check the wear bar on the guard · Check the wear on the back of the section · Use the AE55619 fastener tool for bolt-on sections. This tool pulls the bolt through the knifeback without bending the bar · Replace the sections when the serrations are no longer sharp. Use chrome-plated sections in abrasive conditions to provide longer life Maintenance TipsChange sickle sections when 4 mm of wear (D) occurs on the back of the section (A) and the section cutting edges (B). Note: Soil will score lines across the top of the sickle section as it rides up out of the serrated cutting edge. Check for wear on sections when the serration lines (C) cut into the top of the sickle section. Serrated edges should be sharp to the touch. Note: Check the FH311770 wear strap on regular guards when replacing the sections. The wear strap is reversible and can be reversed to the new edge when installing a new knife. |
