Application: Briggs Parts

Several months ago, the John Deere Commercial and Consumer Equipment Division piloted a change to the way Briggs & Stratton parts were distributed. Your input during this pilot program has precipitated changes that will take place in early September 1996 and will restore the levels of service you have come to know and expect.

All Briggs Parts Moved to PDC

All Briggs & Stratton parts will be shipped from PDC. The service you currently receive on all parts shipped from PDC will now be the same for Briggs parts. Normal John Deere procedures will be used for all facets of the distribution process. Ordering, invoicing, order visibility, processing, and shipping will be the same as all other parts shipped from PDC.

To take advantage of the efficiencies of the Parts Distribution Center, all Briggs inventory will be moved from the parts depots to PDC. Once all depot inventories have been transferred, Briggs parts orders will only be shipped from PDC (both stock orders and machine-down orders). This will result in your Briggs parts ordered via stock order arriving with the rest of the stock order. Those ordered as machine-down will be shipped the way your machine-down orders are shipped from PDC today -- Direct via UPS, Pony Express, or through your serving depot -- then reshipped to you.

Part Number Identification

To make the part numbers easy to identify, all of the Briggs & Stratton part numbers have been converted to an LG prefix with the Briggs & Stratton part number behind it (see example below). The LG prefixed part numbers will be substituted for the traditional M and AM part numbers.
