John Deere ULTRA™ low-drift venturi nozzles

Independent research confirms that venturi spray tips provide superior reduction in off-target spray coverage. Out of 15 spray tips commonly used for post-emerge weed control in crops, venturi nozzles reduced off-target coverage the most.

The John Deere ULTRA low-drift air is a venturi spray tip, meaning it draws air into the nozzle and creates large,
air-aspirated droplets. These large droplets are less prone to off-target drift, and the air incorporation in the droplet causes the droplet to shatter upon leaf impact for better on-target coverage than non-air-aspirated droplets.

The chart below shows off-target coverage (drift) on water sensitive paper placed 1 meter downwind in a wind tunnel. Fifteen of the 22 tips tested are commonly used for post-emerge spraying – the other spray tips are shaded gray.

The ULA2004 reduces drift by reducing the amount sprayed as small droplets.

Large, heavy droplets are less prone to off-target drift. Plus, air-included droplets improve on-target coverage compared to similar size droplets without air.
